How much "I" makes TMI?

This is the second blog today that has been a topic that I have had rolling around in my brain lately...talk about strange! :)

Personally, I don't get the pull of Twitter. To me its just too much. (don't even get me started on the name "Twitter"...) I have friends who Twitter and quite honestly, I love them a bunch, but I really don't care to read about everytime they have a coffee or a biscotti or everytime they shift their body or every minute thing they do every minute of the day. To me it just seems a little self-absorbed. I mean really...."OMG, call the news, he is in a bookstore having a vanilla latte and a chocolate biscotti!!! ". :p

Yeah there is a strong dose of narcissism in there, but then I think it depends on how you use it. And I would argue that any means of expression on the internet is probably a bit guilty of the same thing. For me, I've noticed the conversations streams that are broad and inviting seem to be when twitter shines brightest. I love the feeling that I'm hanging out with people I might not have the opportunity to hang out with otherwise. And it stuns me that I can find out out news on twitter, before it hits some of my rss feeds. That is cool

Rest assured that half of what you just said (unless covering a major news story, or recounting your experience making love to an alien in a Starbucks bathroom) will be qualified as TMI

LMAO! Darn right I want to hear about that alien experience. Otherwise, yeah, no.

You're right on. And who wouldn't love your ending line. "You are what you tweet." Come on, how long has that been rattling in your brain?

Ha!!!

I'm not sure I can take credit for that. I'm sure someone's said if long before I did. And yes, I personally would love to see someone describe an alien sex encounter in starbucks in under 140 characters.

I try to keep it light and not too detailed. For me, I want to laugh or bring some fun to it. But then I know we have to vent and I try to be creative when I do it. However, I am still learning how to do "twitter" and I realizing like you to just have some fun. I only go on a roll when I am around people who make me crack up otherwise I feel dead if our "crew" is not there.

But throughout all this social media groups I still prefer last.fm because of the music! I truly enjoy the diversity of people I have been meeting and on a daily basis. Now, if I can get them all on twitter, that would be mad cool because all we do is talk about music and how it relates to our current world.

Great post!

I would say more but I feel like I've written enough about twitter in '07.

I don't get twitter. I feel self-conscious enough with the status updates on Facebook and feeling like I am telling *too much*. Twitter would make me nuts.

...but, being the voyeur that I am, I'd be all up in everyone else's business.

I try to make my twitters succinct and to the point. Like this comment. And my blog.

Your post reached perfection!!!

The bit about the Waltons was enough for me.

Sloppy, syrupy love expressed repeatedly to convince third parties makes me wonder too:)

Thanks again!

Peace!
