It's all about Empty Bowls...

Comments

Did you make any bowls for this or just volunteering? I go to the one in Tempe (AZ) every year and have had to limit my purchases to 10 bowls annually. I could easily walk off with more.

Here's my routine. The tables are in a big circle, with all the volunteers in the middle restocking as bowls get picked up. I ask for a box, which is happily handed over. Then I make one slow circle, picking up bowls as I go. Then I find a comfy place to sit and I take them out and weed them down to 10. I put the ones not making the cut back. Then I do another slow lap to see what else has been put out since my first lap.

I do the sort again and then pay up, enjoy my soup and think about which ones I might keep for myself and which ones I'll give away. They are great to have around for gifts.

Good for you for helping out! I will give you a virtual hug since I won't be there to enjoy buying bowls in Austin!

Awww thank you Amy!!!

I did two bowls, but I have no idea where they are. I'm hoping they've already been put on the EB shelves (which I suspect may be the case). I'm also volunteering on Saturday (massive studio clean up) and Sunday (greeting, roaming, assisting shoppers, etc) and I cannot wait. This is my first year participating and I hope to make this a yearly habit.
Good luck and I hope you have a wonderful time participating! Most of all, I hope your area food banks are able to better serve your population in need. :-)
