QotD: Books From My Childhood

Even though now I am not a big reader, (i can't seem focus long enough to train my eyes to carry a return to the next line), my mom used to read to me every night. THe hardy boys, Nancy drew and the Secret Garden will all on that sacred rotation of books that would help a rather restless child calm down just long enough to let his mind ease into another world before letting sleep take over.

I LOVED those books, and like you, the memories of the adventures I would have in my head along side the main characters makes me want to hear all those stories again.

You know...there's something about being read to as a child, isn't there? I hope to one day have some lil chicks to read too as well. I think those are memories you carry with you forever. :))
I was into ALL the kid series books. Bobbsey Twins were my favorite, but I also loved the Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew too!. Seems there was another set, the BoxCar Children - or maybe I dreamed that one.... The full set of OZ books (not just the Wizard of Oz) were also a favorite. I read all I could lay my hands on. But unlike you and Ben, no one read to me. My mother handed me a book at 3 to keep me busy and I just read it. I read everything I could get my hands on after that. I went through MOST of the books in the kid section of my little town's library. In the summer I would drag home the max number of books every day, day after day.
@RPM: It was eye-opening to read my Neighborhood's entries in Newsgator this afternoon. Bookmole's posting immediately followed this one. Significantly, you both are fans of ...Narnia and ...Garden.

Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry was one of my favorite books as a youth, as well as I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings, The Learning Tree and To Kill A Mockingbird.

I was a huge fan of the Little House on the Prairie series....

Sometimes I still feel like Laura Ingalls
