Experiencing a little frustration with myself...wanting to be further along then I am. I said jokingly to someone that all I see are the flaws and imperfections in each piece. Funny how art imitates life.
rpm, these are beautiful. even the flaws (which i tewtally don't see) make them wonderful. my fave would have to be the scrawl bowl - great color and internal design. thanks for sharing!! :)
In high school I did lots of sewing. i would make a dress and see every problem with it. My older sister would say "If you don't like it, I'll take it." I'd give it to her. A week later I could look at it and see it instead of the mistakes. Sigh. It took me years to get over doing that.
And you will always see where your work didn't do quite what you had in mind -- but that part no one else knows.
That's why I collect hand made pottery. The flaws and imperfections are what make it unique and special. If I wanted perfection I'd buy it out of a factory and who wants that. Blah!
I'm coveting that second piece from the left on the top (I've been searching for weeks for something just like it.) and that bowl next to it is to die for..I can see it sitting on my kitchen table. I think you do beautiful work.
Yay! More pottery pictures! I like the texture and color on the first one. Have you thought about setting up an Etsy page? I agree with Jamie... it's the not perfect that makes it wonderful and one of a kind.
Thanks Mars! I am planning to do that over the holidays once my sister re-shoots my work to make it more presentable. I have to wait for her to come to Austin...
Which one? I've promised family first pickings over the holidays before I start selling anything, but after that...if there's anything you like, I'd me more than happy to share. I am definitely following up on Jamie's suggestion about Etsy. Stay tuned. :))
oh yeah, I just looked at all the larger images and that first one is REALLY nice. that was my fave of the bunch before I read the rest of the comments. Expect to have to tell a lot of people "Sorry, that one's sold!" and make them wait for the next batch, heh.
I can only see wow!-ness. They are beautiful. And who wants perfect anyhow? If it was "perfect", it would be mass-produced and on WalMart's shelves. And would be worthless.
