In my quest for late night viewing, I stumbled across the film 10 Items Or Less, an independent film starring Morgan Freeman. In the film, Freeman's character asks the female lead to list 10 items in her life that she hates, and 10 things that she loves. I recommend the movie for a number of reasons (my love of Morgan Freeman being one of them)...but that exercise at the time of course got me to thinking.
It's funny that so many of us can easily rattle off a list of ten things we'd like to be rid of...but we forget or struggle to come up with the things that we're glad we don't have to do without. I think if you catch yourself easily going down the bad side, but not the good, that might be an indicator of where we spend the bulk of our emotional energy. So...my challenge to you. Think about your list of ten things you'd like to do without and the ten things that are meaningful to you...and see what you come up with. And if you want to share, I'll be happy to read.
Here's mine:
10 Things I Hate:

2. Feeling powerless against ignorance
3. The sting of irresponsible spending of the past
4. Having to wait for some things
5. Having to let go of others
6. Having social anxiety
7. My belly (don't worry, it hates me too)
8. This returning ganglion on my foot
9. My constant procrastination
10. Being manipulated
10 Things I Love:
1. Mecca, Mecca, Mecca, Mecca.
2. Pottery
3. Finding humor in most anything
4. My inner circle of people: family, friends, neighbors and such
5. Learning a life lesson
6. Living in Austin
7. Having a space that no one can invade w/o my permission
8. My freedom
9. Thunderstorms
